God was too busy

I received an email awhile back, and as most things do, it really bothered me.  This is just another example of how mis-informed some people are.  The email was a mass send from a relative of mine.  She sent it to everyone in her address book with her own supportive comments and of course asked everyone to forward it to everyone in they knew.  There were at least 50 names besides mine who were luck enough to recieve this.  Rather than send it on, I replied to all who were sent it in my batch.  The first message is the original email and the second part is my mass reply.

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.  One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated,

“God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am God. I’m still waiting.’  It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.  The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.  The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, “What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?”  The Marine calmly replied, “God was too busy today protecting America’s soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot.  So, He sent me.”

Moral of this story: If you don’t know GOD, don’t make stupid remarks.

Oh my GOD, not an atheist in the education system!  Uugh!  Someone who believes in fact and possibly does not live by faith alone.  (dont get me wrong, im a God loving/God fearing believer, but I am not a bible thumping, red state lovin’, Jerry Falwell followin’, right wing wacko)

What are we going to do with all these damn ACLU members?  Who do they think they are, wanting to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guarenteed to every person in this country by the constitution?  Damn them to hell!!!  We need to be in better hands; this nation needs to be watched over a little more carefully.  I miss Bush, and some of you may miss Dick.

But I do thank God for Watching over our troops.  We all know we are the favorite of all Gods children.  Well, except the 4295 U.S. troops to date who have died and the 30,182 who have been wounded.  I guess he was too busy to watch over them.  Maybe he is also to busy for Darfur where women and children are raped and burned alive, wait, I don’t know if they count, they may not believe in God.  Did Katrina prove neither God nor George Bush care about Black people?  People with cancer?  When are they being looked after?  I guess they are not American enough.

In a nutshell, I am sick and tired of God being brought into these conversations.  “God, please watch over our troops.”  How about this, “God, please make the world a better place and allow us to stop harboring hate against somethings we do not and never will understand.”  I do pray for our troops, I pray for “insurgents” and I pray for mankind.  I also pray W. and Dick will pay for their crimes.  I’m sure there is a cozy spot in hell for war criminals.

Thank you for listening to my thoughts/rant.  I do not ask you to pass this on, patriotism is not a chain letter.  You are not a better american if you have more names in your address book.

Peace in the Middle East, in Sudan, and all over the World.

Stupid Bumper Stickers

I drove to the bank today; about a three-mile round trip journey.  In my travel, I saw  two of the dumbest bumper stickers ever.  The first was an Obama logo crossed out and read, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”  I am sick of whack job conservatives who brought this up post DNC and ever since.  Grasping at straws is the only way to describe it.  Wasn’t really a concern until he became a real threat to win office of President.  When trying to instill fear by rioting, I mean rallying and planting the seed of terrorism (middle name Hussein and associating with a known terrorist, Bill Ayers) in the drone Republican followers doesnt work why not try and have him disqualified seemed the only logical choice.

The second sticker was on some big Ford F350 pick-up.  “I’ll keep my money, my guns and my freedom.  You keep the ‘CHANGE’.”  Anyone please show me how any American has lost money, right to arms, or freedom.  The recession caused by a special interest WHORE, George W. Bush lost the nation billions, Obama has not, nor will he take away anyones second amendment right.  Freedom, i’m sorry, I forgot President Obama passed the Patriot Act.  He also opened Gitmo where thousands are detained without representation for, at times, years.  Wait, it wasn’t a lapse of memory on my part because IT NEVER HAPPENED.  I’m not just pointing out faults of W., I’m reminding people what we just came from and where we are now.  We are safer with President Obama, he is an intelligent diplomat.  He would rather talk over facts than kill over profit.  It is a shame though, he was handed an insurmountable mess when he was elected (landslide) but now there are few who remember that.  He didn’t save our country in his first year so he must be a failure.  Nevermind it took eight long years (minus record-setting number of vacations to Texas ranch) for George Bush to drive our once great nation into the ground.

We all need to go out and remind everyone CHANGE doesn’t happen over night.  We have the best man for the job and he is doing better than anyone could ever ask.

There are a few gripes I have with the current administration though.  We need to pull out of the middle east, ENTIRELY! Close Guantanamo Bay, end genocide in Darfur and end “Don’t ask, don’t tell”.

Proud To Be An American

I’m proud to be an American
wait a second, no I’m not
I am NOT proud we kill innocent civilians
you know, the ones we are supposed to save
but I am from the land of the free and home of the brave
land of the free
as long as it’s not free to speak your mind in disagreement
’cause then you get arrested for treason and sedition actin’ like arrestin’ your “anti-American” ass is some kind of major achievment
but we are the home of the brave
brave to attack a near third world country to rid them of their weapons of mass destruction
we must rid them of these things
cause being the world police is our only major function
I’m sorry sir, your missle goes more than a hundred miles and we can’t have that threat
so we’ll use laser guided missles, and bunker buster bombs for ten billion bucks a month to add to our national debt?
But we do gotta kill these people
to get ‘em back for N-Y-C
but that was a different fuckin man
in a different fuckin country
is the only one who knows this me?
So fuck Donald Rumsfeldt
fuck Dick Cheaney
and most of all, fuck you George Bush
for sending OUR loved ones to die for ficticious cause,
shows us you’re nothin but a fuckin puss

written shortly after the invasion od Iraq for a school “civil rights/civil liberties” poetry evening. One evening, a day before poetry night, I was looking at an American flag I had in my home. My perspective was of the flag upside down. I thought that to be a sign to me since that is a distress signal in the US (I believe if an American flag is put on a flagpole upside down, that is a call for help). I thought how appropriate it was, since in these trying times, we were in need of help and clarity. I began writing this poem on the flag in one constant motion. It was my true feeling at the time, coming out of me with no control.
